i apologize if some of my blog posts have been rather cryptic as of late. when i'm not discussing politics it seems all i post are mysterious one-liners that fail to provide any real information on what's been going on with me.
well, i'm sorry...but that's all youre going to get. there are some things i'm just not going to go into detail about on the internet. let's just say this is a time of new lessons for me.
i'm learning that i'm not beyond my own advice
i'm learning just how overpowering emotion can be
i'm learning that i have the capability to love, and to hurt
i'm learning that "heartache" is not just a figure of speech
i'm learning that "i'm sorry" does not heal all wounds
i'm learning how much God is in love with me
i'm learning how i need to love Him more
i'm learning to take things one step at a time
it's scary when the Lord holds you to your own words and promises.
especially when you could have avoided the pain by being obedient in the first place.
so you thought that since the election is over that i'd be past all the political commentary...
it was a very good night, and the bonfire was just the beginning.
what i was claiming to be "spirituality" and "sacrifice" was really immaturity and fear. it's time to step out and have faith that God is really in control.

Joelogon's Foolproof Guide to Making Any Woman Your Platonic Friend
You meet a girl who you know could be the one. She makes your toes curl, your stomach knot, your mouth dry -- you become even more of a gibbering idiot then you usually are. You're so incapacitated in her presence that you can't ask her out. You decide that things will be better once you get to know her better, so you become friends. You become best friends -- so good, in fact, that you can't bring yourself to ask her out. Yet there is this nagging voice in the back of your mind that says you could be more than friends. You swear that you will tell her how you really feel. Right before you can do this, she tells you:
"I'VE MET THIS REALLY GREAT GUY"
DO rehearse elaborate and impassioned declarations of your love
DO NOT ever let anyone hear you doing this.
DO NOT ever actually give her the speech. (Instead, drop little, enigmatic, self-deprecating hints to her, and then agonize over why she does not pick up on them.)
DO listen to all her problems with men:
DO feel the knife twisting and your insides tearing up as you listen to this
DO develop a gnawing enviousness that grows into an insane jealousy
DO curse yourself for being a miserable, spineless, pathetic, emotionally-stunted fool.
DO promise that you will change, that things will be different.
DO NOT actually change.
DO create a web page that is vague enough to be relevant to the masses, yet specific enough so that the one, special platonic friend you've been carrying a torch for reads it and comes to her senses.
i have more respect now for John Kerry than i did at any point in the campaign. i really thought he would drag this out into some ugly battle over 175,000 or so ballots in ohio, but he decided not to turn this election into a legal mess. good for you Mr. Kerry.
congratulations President Bush, you've done what your father couldn't: kept the nation in a state of war long enough to get reelected. now get us out of it. please. i'll be praying for you. be the man of God everyone here at Biola tries to tell me you are.
enough with politics...
have you ever felt like you're not yourself? like you've become something completely contrary to what you thought you were? who knew i would end up like this? it's not me. it's not me.
